Why is it Important for Men to Moisturise?

The evidence is stacking up; women have sworn by it for decades, but men have been slower to catch up with the fact that moisturising is essential to maintaining good skin health.    But this simple but key piece of advice is now filtering through and men are staring to take proper care of their skin too.

In all probability, men have associated mouturising with femininity, and have seen it as somehow less than masculine but all that is changing with whole suites of product aimed specifically at men;

Your skin is under attack all day.  Water constantly evaporates from the deeper layers of the skin by a process known as transepidermal water loss. This loss prevents your skin from regulating its water content, resulting in a dry, easily shed surface that doesn’t protect as well against pathogens, dirt, or damage by the elements, particularly the suns rays.   Many moisturising creams prevent evaporation of water from the skin by forming an occlusive coating on the surface, and a layer of cream applied to normal skin can reduce the loss of water by as much as 50–75% for several hours.
